Introduction | Bully | Victim | Peer Mediator | Administrator

Introduction:

You are going to create a skit to show what to do in a given situation. There will be 4 roles, the bully (the person that intimidates the victim), victim (the person who does not want to conflict), peer mediator, and the administrator. Choose a role and discover what part your role will play.

 Task:

Bully

·        I'm sorry I hurt you - Taking responsibility and saying that you are sorry about something that you did wrong is one way you can let go of guilt.

Victim

·        Are you being bullied - Sometimes bullying happens so much that people get used to it and start to believe it's a normal part of everyday life.

Peer Mediator

·        Bully hotline - Avoiding a threatening situation

·        Let's Learn About Bully Behavior - Explains bully behavior. Why do bullies act the way they do?

·        What Causes Anger - Explain reasons for people's angry behavior.

Administrator

·        Peace Building Skills - Learn exciting techniques to bring happiness to your world.

Process:

Step 1: Select a scenario from the following Role- Playing list.

You are watching some friends play a game of soccer and notice that the goalie for one of the teams is rolling around on the ground moaning in pain.

You have a friend that is constantly telling lies to other people and now he is telling you a lie.

You are out at recess and notice a group of older kids picking on a classmate who is crying and asking for his hat back.

You are playing football and you catch a pass close to the "out of bounds" marker. The other team says that you were "out of bounds" but the players on your team think you were "in bounds."

You're with a group of friends and a teacher walks past you and drops a bundle of papers that go all over the floor. It is a teacher that you don't really like.

Step 2: Each member will be responsible for investigating their character’s behavior in the chosen scenario.

Step 3: In your group, design a presentation to role-play the corrected scenario for the class.

 Evaluation:

·        Did you follow directions?

·        Did you cooperate with partners?

·        Did you use your resources?

Conclusion:

From the scenarios presented by the class, how would you handle difficult situations involving a bully in the future?
